Today, in the spirit of Texas, we went to the Texas Cowboy Hall Of Fame. They had a cool collection of old wagons along with alot of other cool western things. By the time we were done, we were really hungry. Good thing we were close to the Fort Worth stock yards where there were plenty of food options. We chose Risckys BBQ. I was happy to find out that they had the famous Texas fried pickles! Talk about a dream come true! They were pretty great. Everyone else enjoyed Buffalo burgers which were also a hit. After lunch we wandered around the stockyard and found a shop that sold the original Dr. Pepper in bottles. We decided to have some and, just as we had been promised, it was really good. Finally the time came that we were all waiting for. The cattle drive. Twice a day some drover come down the stockyard with some Texas longhorns. It was fun to see, and if you have never seen one in real life they are huge! Some of the horn spans can be six feet long!

Now we are back at Vickies relaxing and getting ready for our journey to Jackson, Mississippi!
I have never even heard of fried pickles! But alongside a buffalo burger and an old fashioned Dr. Pepper how can you go wrong?;) THose horns are SO big! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWe ate their once or twice when we lived in Saginaw. Never had the fried pickles or buffalo burger though. I would probably appreciate it more now anyway...
ReplyDeleteYou guys didn't happen to see Shiloh in the stockyards did you?
Did you buy us some Dr. Pepper to sample? :-)
