We continued on to South Dakota after the Henry Ford Museum. It was a 19 hour drive, so we drove through the night and I awoke to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. The whole thing is decorated with corn that they change every year. Then it was a few more hours to the Badlands National Park.
Contrary to the name, the Badlands are beautiful.
Touching the badlands.
These were vivid colors and impressive.
Dad found this creepy, big spider so of course we all had to look at it and take pictures.
Next, we went to Wall, SD.
Wall Drug is the drug store there made famous during the depression when they gave away free ice water to people traveling through the area. That has continued to this day and now it is a world famous drug store that is visited by many people. We always get fish and chips when we are there; I don't know how they get fish in the middle of nowhere, but it's always good. And of course, free ice water. Then we went to the Wall Drug Backyard and took some pictures.
Michelle and Jonah on the Jackalope. Michelle and I riding the bucking bronco.
And the famous T-Rex!
Evan says, "I like the dinosaur and it's cool. I would like to go on those things so much, the deer-bunny and horses."
ReplyDeleteMicah says, "WHOA a dinosaur! I like the blackbird so much and it's cool too."
They also liked the spider and they want to know what kind it is.
Those are some cute kiddos:) I'm going to call it a deer-bunny from now on too;) I wonder how the Badlands got that way, what state are they in? Its like getting to see the colors of the grand canyon up close!
